Finding Crawdads

There was a really nice creek down the road from the cabin that we walked to several times. Amy and I went for a walk one evening and saw lots of crawdads. So we went back to the cabin to get some gear and see who we could get to join us. We caught only a few that night because a storm blew in really fast and we all had to run back to the cabin. The next day we went back for more fun and caught quit a few. Danny BBQ them and Amy, Katie, Marrit and Danny all enjoyed them! The girls thought it was great and Annika calls them "Crabdads". It was the first time that I had ever caught a crawdad.

A Camping We Will Go!

The first weekend in June we went rented a cabin down south in Brown County. It was so much fun we stayed there three night with my parents, sisters, brother in law and niece! We had so much fun and I think we will start making it an yearly tradition!

Daily we are surprised and entertained by Marrit. She is already 16 month old and growing so fast, she gives us a run for our money every day. We love her happy out going attitude and how silly she can be. This is where we found her the other day.

We had fun getting together with family and watching half the game. We had to leave early because the girls were tired and had already stayed up 1 1/2 past there bed time. Once we got home they went straight to bed and this is how we found them when we went to tuck them in.

Every week day we have the pleasure of watching a little girl named Nella. She is now 6 month old. Annika adores her as you can see from the picture. We also watch a little boy named Logan a couple days a week. He is a little bit older then Marrit and they are little buddies already.

We stayed around the house this week and stayed cool inside and also at a local park that is a water park. These are they neatest places. It is a playground that has water in it and the girls had so much fun! They are free and around town at different parks. So much fun!!!!!!

Swimming at the pool close to our house. I love this pool it has a great big pink frog slide, foountains and a water play ground. We only went once this year because Marrit loves water but she did better in our kid pool at home. But I hope we go a lot more next year.

We love the Children's Museum and had so much fun going with Anna, her girls and auntie Katie!

We had such a nice weekend using our new camper for the first time! We went up North to Tippicanoe camp ground up north. We went on lots of bike rides and played games. Sunday was very hot and humid. We deceided to ride our bikes a couple miles to the river and go for a swim. We made it to the river no problem and enjoyed a nice dip in the cool water and a picnic. Within a mater a minutes out of no where we were in the middle of a huge thunder storm and down pour. We tried to take cover under a tree but after a few minutes we were all soaking wet and the storm just kept getting worse. So we put the girls with the towels in the bike trailer and closed the cover. They were so warm and dry in the bike trailer. They loved it. Danny and I bike the couple miles in the pouring rain back to the camper. We were so happy to have the camper to get warm and dry off in. It was a fun memory. They got 3 in of rain in 2 hours. Everyone in tents were totally flooded.

We loved the times we were able to see Mason and meet him. We are so happy that he is not in pain or suffering any more but in Heaven with our Lord. Many amazing things have come from Mason life even though he was only here for 5 days. Anna and Chris have been able to donate books to the hosipital where Mason stayed. The book is called Safe in the Arms of God. This book really helped them after he was born. They have also started a blog in his memory and to help others who have gone through losing a child. Chris my brother in law preached a sermon on the topic after Mason died and that link is also on his blog. I encourage you to listen to it.

We were so excited and lucky to have Alan, Mandy and Family come visit us for Danny's 30th Birthday! They drove all the way out here from CA. We enjoyed our visit so much with them! We were sad to see them leave but are excited about seeing them again. It was a warm humid, stormy week when the visited. Mandy did not care for the thunder and lightning but I loved it. Besides having them visit which was amazing they brought Danny a Birthday present. It was his 4 wheeler that he had when he was a little boy. He LOVES it!

We spent the weekend with my parents and little sisters, staying in cabins. We had such a good time and enjoyed, swimming, playing on all the playgrounds, relaxing and talking walks. My sisters little girl Miriam, joined us for a night! I got to go on a trail ride with my little sisters. It was so pretty and so much fun!

Wow, I can't believe it has been 5 month since I have posted anything on our blog. I am so sorry for those of you that would like to see how we are doing and get some up-dates! I have good news we are doing great and have really been enjoying this time with our girls. It seems like they grow up so fast and we are trying to soke up every minute of them when they are little. They also keep us really busy. We had a wonderful summer and have been enjoying fall. To try and make up for not posting for so long and to get you up to speed on the girls and Danny and I. I am going to try and post a and new post each day. I am going to go back to June, and try and do a week at a time so you can get a glimps of the fun we had this summer. You don't have to worry that I wont remeber or get side tracked like I did before because I have done all the work ahead of time. All the post are done and they will get posted each day! Great Grandma

Danny Grandma Ann, passed away. We were so sad to see her go and will miss her so much. We are sad our girls did not get go know her better and will not be able to see for them self what a wonderful person she was. We have so many wonderful memories of her and are thankful for each day we were able to spend with her. She was such a wonderful role model. She loved unconditionally, without judgement and whole heartily. She was hard working, easy going and always so sweet. She never got mad and had such a wonderful laugh and smile. Danny and I have both enjoyed and appreciated the role she played in both of our life's. Here are a few pictures of the last couple times we got to spend with her. Danny helped them move from Washington State to Arizona and they came to visit us in March.

It's been awhile. I am so sorry we have been so busy with so many exciting things. We have had our first visitors and are looking forwards to more this coming weekend. We had a great trip to CA, we went cabin camping at McCormicks State park this past weekend. It was wonderful and so pretty. We can not wait to go back. We have planted a garden gotten a lot done in our yard and basemant. And of course the girls have been keeping us busy and on are toes. Where has time gone?

New Home

Hi, So we have been in our NEW home for a week now and I must say it feels great! We are all a little worn out and tired but are loving every minute of it. We moved in last Saturday and had help from friends from church. Everything went really smoothly and quickly which was nice! We have had the hard wood floors redone, lots of plumbing work, new appliance's and are hot water heater went out a few days after living here so we have also replaced that. Danny has installed two of the three new toilets we bought because the old ones were cracked and we are about 50% unpacked and settled. We both cannot believe we own a home and feel so lucky.

Danny new job is going great! He has been so happy with it and enjoying it so much more then his last. The company is a lot smaller and is family owned and operated. It is a flooring company and Danny delivers flooring all over IN. So far so good and we are both very thankful for his job.

The girls are both doing great! Annika is almost 1 1/2 and is talking up a storm. She really enjoys her new home and the space that she has to play. She loves watching the cars, kids and what ever else she can see outside. Marrit is 3 1/2 month and has been growing so big. She sleeps great at night and loves watching her big sister play. She is a really easy going baby. We love them both so much! I will post pictures of the girls when I find my camera cord and some of the house when we have it a little more put together!

Merry Christmas! We woke up Christmas morning and all the snow we had melted over night. So we did not get a white Christmas but on Sunday it snowed again and so much! It was so pretty and we were able to go sledding in the snow. Anna and Chris came over with the girls and we all went sledding. Afterwards we had hot chocolate and pop corn! It was a fun afternoon. Danny also built a great snow man!

Christmas Morning Cinnamon Rolls Easy

This morning after being woken up at 5am by a sweet little girl of mine I decided to make this recipe, I have wanted to try from my cousin. She said it was super easy but she is an excellent chef so I was not really sure how easy it really would be. But to my amazement it was super easy and delicious! I made some eggs and orange juice and me and Annika served, Oma, Danny, Amy and Katie all breakfast in bed on this beautiful snowie morning! Enjoy, we sure did! Thanks Natalie!

Super Easy Christmas Morning Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients:

¤ 2 cups flour

¤ 1 Tablespoon baking powder

¤ 1 teaspoon salt

¤ ¼ teaspoon baking soda

¤ ¼ cup vegetable oil

¤ ¾ cup buttermilk

¤ 8 Tablespoon butter, softened

¤ ¾ cup granulated sugar

¤ 1 teaspoon cinnamon

¤ Cinnamon Frosting (below), if desired

Combine flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda in a medium bowl and mix well. Stir in vegetable oil. Add buttermilk and stir just until blended. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth. Roll dough into a 15x8-inch rectangle. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Grease a 9-inch round baking pan lightly. Spread butter over the dough. Combine granulated sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and mix well. Sprinkle over butter. Roll up rectangle, jelly roll fashion, starting from one long side. Pinch seam to seal. Cut the roll into 1 ½ inch slices. Arrange slices, cut side up, in prepared baking pan. Bake until lightly browned, about 15-20 minutes. Remove from oven. Serve hot with frosting, if desired. Cinnamon Frosting: ½ cup butter, 2 ½ cups confectioners’ sugar, 2 Tablespoons milk, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. In a small mixing bowl, combine all the ingredients; beat until smooth.

Our House Hunting Story So Far!

So we have been looking for a house for a house to buy now for about a month. We have seen one house we really liked go before we could even put an offer on it. We have made two other offers on two other house's we really liked. The first house we found out that they had already had an offer that they had taken and the second house we were out bid. Everyone tells us there is something better out there for us so that is what we are trying to focus on. We just put a third offer on a home that is foreclosed and it will go to the highest bidder. We will find out on Monday if we got that house! Both Danny and I never thought we would make so many offer and not get any of these house's. But I guess that is what happens when you are trying to get a deal on a foreclosed home! Here is a glimpse of what we could have owned. These are the first two homes! We loved the first house the most and saw a lot of potential in the second home!

Our First Snow

So this past week we woke up to it snowing! We did not get very much as you can see in the pictures, but we sure did enjoy it! Everyone asked us what we thought of it and both of us said we felt like we were on vacation. Any time before when we have been in the snow we have been on vacation! It was a lot of fun! My parents pond froze over so the girls and my dad went on it! Annika thought it was great!

As many of you know we celebrate St Nick on December 5th which is the dutch Christmas. I have really enjoyed this tradition growing up and Danny has been enjoying it since we have been married! Normally we would make almond cup cakes for all are friends and family and deliver them to there house's, but this year was a little different. Since we just moved to Indiana and are still getting to know people we just got together with my family and exchanged rhymes and gifts as we waited for St. Nick to arrive. We all had a very good time. Annika received a play kitchen from us and she loves it! Here are a few picture of are evening! We really did not take very many.

Marrit Grace is Home!

Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!! Marrit Grace got to come home last Sunday after spending 10 days in the NICU. We were such proud and happy parents when we got to pick her up and bring her home. She has been doing great and is adjusting well. She is getting bigger and stronger each day. We have to keep her home for at least two weeks and then be very careful when we do go any where. She is an easy going and pretty content baby. She loves being held and sleeps great! We have really been enjoying having her home and getting to spend so much time with her. Annika at first was very jealous and wanted nothing to do with her. She did not want us to hold Marrit either. After a couple of days though she has warmed up to the idea of being a big sister and now love to help change her, feed her and hold her. Annika thinks it is pretty funny when Marrit makes noise and she has to check on her several times when she is sleeping!

Today was such a great day! I got to hold her and feed her, her first bottle! She did great! I pretty much held her all day, it was so nice! It looks like if everything continues to go well she will come home on Sunday! Danny had to go back to work today. His day was very busy but went well. He either visits her before work or after. It makes for a long day for him. But he does not seem to mind. I am doing well still trying to heal and get caught up on my sleep(which will probably never happen). Annika is doing surprisingly well, it has worked out so well that we are living with my parents because she has not had to be pulled from her comfort zone. They have been such a huge help and I do not know what we would have done without them. We can not wait for her to meet her baby sister! Sorry I do not have any new picture to post, I was to busy holding her today. I will take some more tomorrow!

After a ruff day yesterday and Marrit not doing so well it was great to get to the hospital this morning and see her off of the venalitor. She had a much better day and I got to hold her and change two diapers. Marrit is breathing much better and getting stronger!

Marrit Grace Thompson was born 11/5/2009 at 11:34am. Weighing 6lb 10oz, 21in long. The delivery went so smooth she was out within 5 minutes of pushing. Danny and I both thought to our self that it went way to smooth. Marrit was having a little trouble breathing normal and was was making a lot of noise grunting and and breathing. We thought that maybe it was just her getting used to being out in the world. After it did not stop for a couple hours we got concerned and brought her to the nursery to be check out. There we found out that her heart rate and respiratory breathing was way to high. They right away called in a pediatrician and had some test done. From there they found fluid in her lungs and her white blood cell count was very low. She was also so tired from working so hard all afternoon at breathing that she kept stopping and they had to hook her up to a respirator and oxygen. From there they decided that she would be better off at the NICU in Indy. So they had her transferred there. We got to go along and stay for 1 hour and then I had to be back at the hospital to have some test run and be discharged. We got back from the NICU at 2am. We were able to go see Marrit today and she is off of the oxygen but still has to still be on the respirator. They are pretty sure that she has pneumonia. They will keep her in the NICU probably for 7-10 days. We are so happy to have her here and fighting to get better. She is in a great place and getting the best care possible. It is hard not being able to stay with her all the time and being so far away but we will make it work. We are so proud of her and can not wait to bring her home! We are both pretty tired and hopefully going to get some sleep and get caught up.

Danny has been working so hard looking for a job since we have moved here and this last week things finally paid off. Danny got offered a job with an Electronic Recycling company. They are all over the United States. He went in for an interview for a driving position and he got asked if he would take a warehouse supervisor position instead. He has worked 2 full days so far and really likes the plant manager and he really likes Danny. It of course is a lot of new information and a bit overwhelming so far but he is very excited. We are both really happy that it is a position that is not seasonal and we will have a dependable income. He will be working 7:30-4 every day with lots of possible over time. His job will be to supervise 4 guys that will work in the warehouse checking in all of the electronics that come in and then placing them where they need to go. After he took this job he got 4 other calls for job offers. He is really glad though that he took this job. It is about a 20-30 minute drive to work for him each day. Congratulations Daddy!

Happy Harvest Time

We got to go to an amazing pumpkin patch this year with my sisters and there family's. We has so much fun! It was a bit chilly on the day that we went but we still had a great time. Annika's favorite things was the animals for sure. She loves them and cannot get enough of them. She will make the sounds of a cat, lamb and a horse. It is pretty cute and we need to try and get it on video. The pumpkin patch is also a christmas tree farm so they grow the pumpkins in the middle of all the christmas trees which it kind of funny. They had so much to do there. We are already looking forwards to going again next year.

During the week I was lucky enough to get to go to an apple orchard with my sister Anna and her girls. We had a lot of fun there. Annika loves apples and would pick up a couple and then all she wanted to do was sit down and eat them. She also did not want to get off the tractor ride we went on.

Annika was lucky enough to get to celebrate her Birthday in CA with friends and also in Indiana with family. She got one early party and one late party! Here are some photo's from both events.

We have all been in Indiana for just over a week now. The 3 of us all made it safely, Danny's drive was long but everything went really well. We have really been enjoying time with family and meeting new people. It has been amazing at how friendly and helpful everyone has been. A handful of guys came over and helped Danny unload the moving truck. We have finally gotten unpacked and are getting settled. This week Danny has been spending a lot of time looking for a job and working on getting his Indiana CDL Lisence along with all the endorsements. The weather has been beautiful here and we have really been enjoying the country side. There are corn fields and soy bean fields every where and everything is so green. Annika has been adjusting well. She love living with her Oma, Opa and Auntie Amy and Katie. We are staying with my parents and there are a couple house's near by that have goats, sheep, and horses. She loves the animals. She is walking all over the place and really enjoying that freedom that goes along with it. We have been taking walks and biking in the evenings. I would love to post some pictures but I have yet to find my camera cord. So when I do I will post some pictures. We have apprecaited everyone support. We can not wait until Danny finds a job and see what else is in store for us! We miss everyone in Sonoma County but are both really happy to be here in Indiana!

The Beach

One Morning Annika woke up at 5:30am, so we decided to make the best out of it and head out to the beach. It ended up being such a beautiful morning at the ocean and we enjoyed it so much. Annika had so much fun crawling in the sand like a little crab. We were home by 10:30am and all took naps. It was a very nice day!

Annika got to go to her very first baseball game. Of course the Giants lost but she still had a really good time cheering them on and being very loud with the crowd. We got to go with our friends Joey and Stacy and we all had a great time!

Yosemite!

Danny, Annika and I got to go to Yosemite for 4 days as a family. It was so much fun. We stayed in a very cozy cabin and then drove to the park each day. We got to spend 3 days in the park and had a wonderful time! We would recommend visiting Yosemite to anyone. Each day we would hike a different trail. One day we rented bikes and biked around the valley. That was a lot of fun and Annika loved the bike trailer. The last day we were there we hiked in the morning and then spent the rest of the time by the river. Annika loved sitting by the river edge and playing in the water with the rocks. It was an amazing trip and we feel so blessed to have been able to see something so amazing that God created! The pictures do not even come close to capturing how amazing it was!

Annika, loves to eat and feed herself now. She will pretty much eat what ever we are eating. She has 4 teeth now, so she does pretty good. One of her favorite things is bean. She will eat so many and any kind! Clean up is fun!

Danny turned 29 on Sunday June 14th and we had a great day celebrating with him! We woke up and went to the hot air balloon festival. It was a lot of fun even though it was to foggy for the balloons to take off. We all got to take naps and then went to sushi for dinner. It was a very nice day and we both love daddy so much and are so thankful to have him in our life's.

Our Adventure

On are way home from IN we had an 1 hour lay over in Las Vegas. When we arrived we found out that are flight had be canceled to Santa Rosa. We had the option to either take 3 more flights or stay in Vegas for a day and a half and then get on are next flight. We were so tired and Annika was done by this point that we decided to stay and see if we could enjoy the day as a family. We enjoyed the day but the nights were hard and we were really all very thankful to finally get home.

We were lucky and got to go visit my family for my mom's 50th birthday! We had a great time and when we were there we also went to Holland MI with my whole family. The Dutch Tulip festival was going on. We had such a great time!

Sugar Loaf Park

This last weekend we went to Sugar Loaf Park and hiked down to the water fall. It was so pretty and we had such a good time. The hike down was of course very easy and the hike back up was sure a good work out. Danny carried Annika on his back in the Ergo and she thought it was great!

Weekend Getaway!

Danny and I decided at the last minutes to go away for the weekend! We went to a BBQ in Alameda on Saturday for a company that Danny work does business with and then we stayed in a Hotel in Emeryville that night and went back to Alameda for Eater Sunday! It was nice to get away with the 3 of us. We got to go swimming at the hotel, witch Annika thought was great! She loves bath time but this was her first time swimming! We also just hung out in are room and enjoyed relaxing.

We were lucky enough to get to spend the day with Oom Jo and Tante Han. As always we had a really great time with them. Carl, Sharon and Wendy were also there and it was nice to see them too! We really enjoyed the day and the great weather!

Baby Number 2

So it is official! We are having baby number 2! I am due at the end of November or Early December. I am about 7 weeks along. We go back next week again to have another look and make sure there is only 1 baby. We are both very excited and can not believe that we are already being blessed with another baby. We both can only hope he/she is as great as Annika! We appreciate all of your prayers for the new baby as it grows. You can also pray that if it is God's will that Danny will be able to find a job in Indiana. We would love to move and by close to my family!

I am so lucky to have such a thoughtful husband! For my birthday I woke up to a rose bush and card next to my bed! Then when I got into the living room Danny had decorated it with streamers and a birthday table cloth. In the evening I got to go out to dinner with him and when we came home Annika and Danny sang to me! It was such a nice thoughtful Birthday! I am so lucky!

Baby Food

Annika is now starting to eat solid foods and loving them! So this week I made a whole bunch of our own to freeze so that we would not have to buy any. I made pear, apple, squash, zucchini, pea's, sweet potatoes and carrots. Here is a little video of Annika's first time eat Sweet Potatoes!

We got to go to SF on one of Danny's day off and we decided to go to Golden Gate Park and see the Tulips and Windmill! It was a beautiful day in the city and to are surprise when we found the windmill it was also right next to the ocean! So we enjoyed both! The tulips where not in bloom yet, which was a bummer but it was still really neat to see!
